(Kaieteur News) – An elderly woman and a 26-year-old fisherman were on Thursday arrested for a quantity of marijuana found in their kitchen at Unity, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara.
Police, acting on intelligence, ventured to the residence of a 63-year-old woman and the fisherman, at around 20:00hrs, where they discovered the ganja.
“During an intelligence-led operation at a residence at the said address, ranks conducted a search and discovered a black plastic bag concealed in the kitchen area containing several small zip-lock plastic bags with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis,” police said.
The duo was escorted to the Cove and John Police Station along with the narcotic, which was weighed in their presence, amounting to 82.11 grams. It was then processed and lodged, while the suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
