(Kaieteur News) – The construction of a fence at the recently reconstructed $62 million Charity Police Station in Region Two, will cost the Ministry of Home Affairs $41 million.
The project, which was estimated to cost $74,385,030 according to the government’s engineer, was opened at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office recently.
Thirty-six contractors submitted bids for the project.
According to NPTAB, the contract was awarded to K and J Persaud Contracting Service for $41, 429, 850. The contractor has reportedly worked on a number of government projects in Region Two.
Kaieteur News reported that in July 2025, former Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn commissioned the reconstructed police station. The renovations cost $62.7 million and now features upgraded male, female, and juvenile lockups; a witness and ID parade room; marine and immigration offices; CID and traffic departments; and accommodation for officers.
The police station also includes a child-friendly area and a unit dedicated to responding to domestic violence, making it one of the most modern and responsive stations in the region.
