(Kaieteur News) – St8tment Investment Inc. on Friday disclosed that it has completed and handed over the Bamia Primary School located in Linden, Region 10 to the government. The project executed through the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development.
According to a statement from the company, Project Contractor Kerwin Bollers said the company was proud to complete the project despite challenges encountered during construction.
“We are extremely happy to deliver this project for the children of Linden and grateful to the Government for the opportunity to contribute to national development,” Bollers stated.
Speaking on Afternoon Lockdown on Thursday, Project Contractor Rawle Ferguson described the school as one of the best in Guyana and the wider region, citing its size, quality, and overall finish.
The modern facility features 44 classrooms, smart classrooms, a gymnasium, an auditorium with a performance stage, library, science lab, music room, sick bay with showers, and other state-of-the-art amenities designed to support quality education in Region 10, the statement disclosed.
Kaieteur News reported that the $346 million contract for the school was awarded to St8tment Investment Inc. in November 2021 and was initially expected to be completed by July 2023. St8tment Investment Inc. was incorporated in March, 2021. Its principals are Rawle Ferguson and Kerwin Bollers of Hits and Jams Entertainment along with Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major and Kashif Muhammed of the Kashif and Shanghai football tournament.
Since the signing of the contract, the project has since faced several challenges causing numerous missed deadlines. The project experienced several delays due to a range of challenges, including labour shortages, increased material costs, and unfavourable weather conditions. The setbacks collectively impacted the original timeline and contributed to extensions.
