(Kaieteur News) – Four residents of Bartica were on Tuesday jailed for the offence of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
The accused are Tecina Angel Wills, 22, a fire woman of Two and a Half Miles, Bartica–Potaro Road, Rhon Smith, 36, a labourer of Mora Camp, Bartica, Walter Benn,27, a prison officer of Mora Camp, and Melissa Allen, 28, a vendor also of Mora Camp, all appeared at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Teriq Mohammed.
According to police information, Wills and Smith were found guilty and each sentenced to two years imprisonment, while Benn pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to three years imprisonment.
Allen was found not guilty, and the charge against her was dropped.
The police disclosed that the four persons were arrested recently after they were found with 272 grams of cannabis in their possession.
