(Kaieteur News) – A two-year-old girl drowned on Christmas Day at Grant Atlas, Lower Pomeroon River, Essequibo.
The toddler has been identified as Zoria Seegobin of Friendship, East Bank Demerara (EBD). Reports are that the child was staying with relatives at Grant Atlas for the Christmas holiday when tragedy struck.
“In the early hours of December 25, 2025, she was discovered missing from the home and was subsequently found submerged in a nearby trench,” police said in a statement.
Seegobin was taken to the Charity Cottage Hospital by relatives where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Her body was subsequently taken to the Suddie Hospital Mortuary where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Investigations are ongoing.
