(Kaieteur News) – Four persons were charged and granted bail on Monday in connection with an alleged offence of obtaining money by false pretence.
The case was heard at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore. The accused are: Trevon Lancelot Simpson, 40, a contractor from Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara; Stephan James, 42, a porter from Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown; Andrew Williams, 38, a real estate agent from Triumph, East Coast Demerara; and Abeeka Archer, 40, a land surveyor from Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara.
The alleged offence, involving a sum of $15,000,000, reportedly took place between November 10 and November 26, 2025, at D’Urban Street, Georgetown. During the proceedings, all four accused pleaded not guilty. Bail was set at $100,000 each for Simpson, James, and Williams, while Archer was released on her own recognizance.
The matter was adjourned to January 26, 2026.
