(Kaieteur News) – Officers of the Customs Anti-narcotics Unit (CANU) on Thursday arrested one person for possession of 12.1 grams of cocaine and 30 kilograms of cannabis near Sandaka Dam, Corentyne, Berbice.
In a statement, CANU said that its officers, “acting on received information, conducted an operation near Sandaka Dam, Corentyne, Berbice, where they intercepted a suspect on a motorcycle. A subsequent search of the suspect revealed a parcel containing a quantity of cocaine.”
Two bulky parcels containing a quantity of cannabis were found during a separate search of the area where the suspect was stopped.
“The suspect was arrested and escorted to CANU Headquarters, along with the suspected narcotic, which weighed 12.1 grams (cocaine) and 30 kilograms (cannabis). Investigations are ongoing,” CANU stated.
