Kaieteur News – A 43-year-old woman of Richardstown, Lusignan, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was granted $150,000 bail, on Friday, over an alleged cybercrime offence committed on Wednesday.
It is alleged that the accused, Raywattie Khamraj, used a computer system to disseminate false information about Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation, Mr. Deodat Indar.
Khamraj appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court where the charge of Using a Computer System to Disseminate Information Knowing Same to Be False, Contrary to Section 19(3)(b) of the Cybercrime Act No. 16 of 2018 was read to her.
She pleaded not guilty.
The matter was adjourned to December 17, 2025.
As part of the bail conditions, Khamraj was required to lodge her passport with the court, refrain from posting or commenting on social media, and report to the police every last Friday of each month.
