Albion through to final after taking first innings points from Tucber Park
Berbice Cricket Board two-day first division cricket tournament
Kaieteur Sports – Albion Community Centre (ACC) are through to the final of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) two days First Division Cricket competition.
In their semifinal encounter against Tucber Park Cricket Club (TPCC) which was played over the weekend at the Albion Community Centre Ground, Albion CC won on first innings in the drawn encounter.
National U19 pacer Micah Amsterdam ripped the heart out of the Albion batting with 5-58.
Asked to bat first on a two pace pitch, Albion were dismissed for 224 after being at one stage 208 for 6.
Skipper Veerasammy Permaul leading from in front with a well-played 49. He was supported by Damion Cecil with 41, Adrian Sukhwa 36, Kelvin Umroa 23 and Jonathan Foo 20.
Bowling for Tucber Park CC, National U19 paceman Micah Amsterdam was in good form with the ball as he troubled the batsmen taking 5 for 58. He received admirable support from leg-spinner Zeynul Ramsammy with 3 for 35, while off-spinner Kwesi Mickle snared 2 for 39.
In reply, Tucber Park CC resuming on 19 for 1, found the going tough and were dismissed for 162 to concede a first lead of 62. Damion Vantull led the way for the visitors with 49. Other contributions came from Gilbert Griffith 21 and Malcom Mickle 20.
Bowling for ACCC, left arm spinners Gouraf Ramesh and Permaul skipper picked up three wickets each for 43 and 68 respectively, while off-spinner Leon Cecil bagged 2 for 45.
With the lead on first innings by 62, Albion ended the day on 154 for 7. Adrian Sukhwa top scored with 50 with openers Ari Afrizal Kadir and Damion Cecil made 48 and 20 each.
Bowling for TPCC, Ramsammy was again among the wickets with 3 for 7.
Albion CCC, a power house in Berbice cricket, will take on the winner of the other semi-final between Young Warriors and Rose Hall Town, in the final, at a date and venue to be announced.
The competition, which is sponsored by the BCB, saw 10 teams participating. (Samuel Whyte)
