(Kaieteur News) – Guyana Cup winner Sand Pipes is set to return to the track on Sunday, November 29, when the 2026 President’s Cup takes centre stage at the Rising Sun Turf Club.
The Jumbo Jet Racing Stables-owned champion will be aiming to extend its unbeaten run in Guyana, adding further intrigue to what is expected to be another fiercely contested meeting featuring the country’s leading stables.
The President’s Cup is anticipated to replicate the competitive atmosphere of the Guyana Cup, with Jumbo Jet, Master Z, Slingerz and JS Racing Stables expected to bring their top runners to the track.
Several horses are expected to enter the meeting fresh from the Showdown of Champions stakes, setting the stage for another exciting contest as the 2026 racing season approaches its conclusion.
Among the leading contenders expected to feature are Sand Pipes, I’m Sam of JS Racing Stables, Santorini and Vitruvian, the top four finishers at the Guyana Cup.
Their anticipated participation should add significant quality to the meeting, with Sand Pipes facing renewed challenges from rivals eager to end its dominance.
Away from the horses, the jockeys’ championship is developing into another major storyline, with veteran Colin Ross leading the points standings as he battles 2025 champion jockey Yovin Kissonchand.
Ross said his preparations have been progressing smoothly and that he is looking forward to finishing the season strongly.
The experienced jockey, who has been working closely with Sand Pipes, also expressed confidence that the Guyana Cup winner would be ready for the President’s Cup.
