De Guyanese doctor outfox de lawyer

(Kaieteur News) – One time a Guyanese doctor couldn’t get wuk at no hospital in America. Dem people tell he all kinda story—“overqualified,” “underqualified,” and “yuh accent too thick.” So he decide to open he own lil clinic.

He put up a big sign outside:
“GET TREATMENT FOR $20. IF NOT CURED, GET BACK $100.”

A fancy American lawyer pass and seh, “Ha! Easy money.” He walk in bold, smiling like he already win a case.

Lawyer seh, “Doc, I lost me sense of taste.”

Doctor seh, “Nurse, bring de bottle from Box 14. Put three drops in he mouth.”

Lawyer taste it and holler, “Wait, this is kerosene!”

Doctor seh, “Good! Yuh sense of taste come back. Hand over de $20.”

Lawyer vex bad. He storm out, but he come back two days later to get revenge.

He seh, “Doc, I lost me memory. I cyan remember nuttin.”

Doctor seh, “Nurse, bring de same bottle from Box 14. Three drops again.”

Lawyer bawl out, “Eh-eh! That’s kerosene! Yuh give me that last time!”

Doctor smile sweet-sweet: “Good! Yuh memory come back. Pay me de $20.”

Now the lawyer blazing mad. He gone home, plan a next move, and come back next week determined to win dis time.

He seh, “Doc, I cyan see good. Me eyesight gone.”

Doctor seh, “Oh lawd, me nah get medicine fuh that. Here, tek dis $100.”

Lawyer grab de note and squint: “But this a $20, not $100!”

Doctor grin wide, “Congratulations, bossman. Yuh eyesight restore! Hand me back me $20.”

Talk half. Leff half.
