Dear Editor,
I was deeply saddened to hear the news of Mrs. Lilian Miller’s passing. She died peacefully in her sleep at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on Sunday, October 17, 2025 at age 77. My heartfelt condolences go to her grieving family, relatives and friends.
As I reflect on her life and work, I can say that the late Mrs. Miller has left a great legacy behind that society should follow. She was a wonderful, peaceful and honest woman and who possessed a steady demeanour and stuck to her strong values and moral codes, regardless of the situation or who she was dealing with.
I remembered when I was working overseas and being skeptical in doing business with anyone in Guyana after I had bad experiences. However, after a thoughtful consideration I telephoned Ms. Miller one day whom I had known as a child growing up and attended the same church with me in the village of Plaisance.
She accepted to help me with what I had wanted to be done and I appointed her as my power of attorney to deal with all my business and legal matters on my behalf in Guyana and she did so with an opened heart and with honesty. I was so happy to see that our society still had honest people like her.
Mrs. Lilian Miller was indeed a person of integrity which was characterized by her uprightness, truthfulness, and faithfulness in her relationship with God and others. She seeks to honour God in all areas of her life and followed His commandments with diligence and dedication.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother to her children Andrew and Andrea, Mrs. Miller also loved working in her kitchen garden, staying actively involved in Community work, and holding various volunteer roles at St. Paul’s Anglican Church. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.
While we mourn Mrs. Miller ’s passing, I take comfort knowing her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren I will be forever grateful for the unconditional love she gave to me. Her kindness and warmth touched everyone she met. Losing her leave an ache in our hearts, but also inspiration to live up to her beautiful example with the love she had for people. She will be greatly missed. May her soul rest in peace and rise in glory.
Sincerely,
Rayvonne P. Bourne
