GDF blasts 32 past Monedderlust

Women’s Division One League…

(Kaieteur Sports) – The Guyana Defence Force’s (GDF) Women’s football team’s goal fest in the ongoing Women’s Division One League continued on Friday night when the League leaders blasted 32 unanswered goals past Monedderlust FC at the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF0 National Training Center (NTC) at Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

Once again, Sandra Johnson was the leading lady for the soldiers, finding the back of the net eight times in the 6^th, 9^th, 20^th, 25^th, 34^th, 39^th, 41^st and 41^st minutes. Glendy Lewis secured six goals in the 18^th, 21^st, 23^rd, 27^th, 28^th and 43^rd minutes. Both Shenessa Cornelius (3^rd, 7^th, 18^th, 29^th) and Niomie Williams (11^th, 13^th, 22^nd, 27^th) both registered 4 goals each.

Also adding their names to the scoresheet were Glengie Lewis (8^th, 38^th), Deena Fredericks (16^th), Anastasia Horsham (32^nd, 51^st), Rosa Ross (38^th, 58^th), Akeelah Vancooten (45^th), Abioce Heywood (52^nd) and Sarena Johnson (59^th).

In complete contrast, one goal separated the teams in the following contest as Western Tigers and River’s View FC clashed.

Marrissa Frank’s 31^st minute strike into the right top- corner of the goal made the difference for Western Tigers following a goalless first half between the two teams.

The Women’s Division One League will continue on Wednesday, October 22 at the same venue. At 18:00hrs, GDF’s Women will take on Ann’s Grove United while at 19:30hrs, Western Tigers will hunt another win against Mainstay Goldstars FC.

The teams in the Women’s Division One League are competing for a historic $1M grand prize.
