(Kaieteur News) – St Joseph High will look to an underperformed frontline and strengthened midfield to secure their first points of the 2026 Republic Bank U18 Football League when they face Three Mile Secondary today, as the Petra Organisation stages round-three fixtures at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue, from 11:00 am.
Among seven of the hottest secondary-school sides in the country’s most competitive school football competition, St Joseph are still searching for their first result after losses to Charlestown and Santa Rosa Secondary in earlier matches. They will have an opportunity to get on the board against Three Mile today, who sit two places higher with two points from two draws.
Defending champions Chase’s Academic Foundation, Santa Rosa and West Ruimveldt Secondary lead the standings with four points apiece, each having recorded a win and a draw at this stage.
Chase return to action against New Amsterdam Secondary with a full squad after national-team commitments affected their lineup in last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Three Mile. Despite dropping points, Chase remains atop the table with a goal difference of plus seven. New Amsterdam, meanwhile, can move to four points with a win, having opened their campaign with a 3-3 draw against Three Mile and 2-1 defeat against West Ruimveldt.
Charlestown and Annandale also have three points each, following a win and a draw in the opening rounds. Charlestown are set to meet third-placed West Ruimveldt, while Annandale Secondary take on second-placed Santa Rosa. Annandale’s story is yet to be defined in this year’s championship.
Today however, gives them a good opportunity to advance in the rankings, after responding with a crucial 3-0 victory against Charlestown last weekend.
Three Mile’s position in the standings does not tell the full story, having faced two strong opponents in the opening rounds. Today’s meeting with bottom-placed St Joseph offers them a chance to climb the table: a win would take them to five points. St Joseph, meanwhile, have often started slowly before finding success in the later stages of the tournament.
Round three could reshape the standings, with several schools in contention to move up the order. Until today’s four matchups are decided, Chase, Santa Rosa and West Ruimveldt remain the teams to beat in the seventh Annual Republic Bank Secondary School Football League.
The tournament is sponsored by Republic Bank Limited, with support from the Ministry of Education, MVP Sports, Yellow Steel Inc., Demerara Mutual Life and Guyana Beverage Inc (Busta).
Today’s Round 3 Fixtures
Three Mile Secondary vs St Joseph High 11:00
Chase’s Academic Foundation vs New Amsterdam Secondary 12:30
Santa Rosa Secondary vs Annandale Secondary 14:00
West Ruimveldt Secondary vs Charlestown Secondary 15:30
