(Kaieteur Sports) – Spinner Junior Sinclair put on a show with the ball, as his 5-wicket haul coupled with a scorching fifty, from Kevin Sinclair, single handedly gave Berbice a commanding 7-wicket win over the GCB Select XI yesterday.

Junior Sinclair got his 5th wicket after completing a catch off his own bowling to remove Ronaldo Jeffrey.
Playing at Lusignan, the first Sinclair to dominate, Junior set about proceedings with the ball first by spinning webs around the GCB XI; as his 5-25 kept the opposition to 139 all out in 37.3 overs.
Berbice captain, fast-bowler Nial Smith claimed 1-11, while fellow speedster Clinton Pestano (2-18) and spinner Zeynul Ramsammy (2-29) helped reinforce the assault.
Apart from veteran all-rounder Kwesi Mickle who tried to resist with 49, the GCB XI never recovered from being 5 down for 50-odd runs.
Despite their woes, the GCB XI should have gotten more from Romeo Deonarine (13), Jayden Dowlin (14), Joshua Jones (16) and Nityanand Mathura (15) who managed to get out of the blocks.
The West Indies Test all-rounder Kevin, then led the easy chase with a blistering 74 not out off 63 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes, finding help from Ramsammy who finished nicely 23 to steer the Berbicians to 140-3 in 29.1 overs.
After losing openers Adrian Sukwah (6) and Rampertab Ramnauth (9) cheaply, followed by number 3 batsman Tomani Caesar (13); Berbice found stability in the form of Sinclair.
The all-rounder Sinclair, picked his spots and timed his shots to perfection as his strokeplay kept the Ancient County team in the hunt throughout the entirety of the innings
The GCB XI bowling struggled with Mathura (1-36), Mickle (1-27) and fast-man Joshua Jones (1-19) toiling as they sought to buy their team some time and a possible win. (Clifton Ross)
