Dear Editor,
Suddenly, APNU seems more interested in the WIN party leader’s indictment charges after seeing a glimmer of hope of regaining some form of power through technicality. Is that a coincidence, or is it a vengeful reaction after being embarrassingly beaten by a party that was catapulted to popularity in just three months?
Given this desperate grab at straws, no doubt there are secret deals being drafted between the PPPC and APNU. If that is happening, I would surely like to know who stands to benefit. For a party to be in existence for some 68 years, holding power for 28 of those years, and then be almost wiped out by a three-month-old party, tells me that their supporters are extremely dissatisfied with its existence and chose to jump to a new party instead of supporting the ruling party.
Editor, it is my opinion that the various challenges the WIN party is facing are direct acts orchestrated by the ruling party, which I have been saying over the years seems very vindictive. Is it possible that our corrupt officials could have asked foreign companies, squandering our wealth, to pull strings to have actions taken against their threats? My assumption is that the WIN party has been raising issues to make Guyanese aware of the level of corruption in Guyana and the restrictive policies the ruling party has in place that keep the majority of the population in poverty. Or, then again, it could simply be direct vindictive action because the WIN party’s leader is bold enough to stand against them.
The delay in convening Parliament tells me that plans are being executed to prevent the WIN party from entering. To see APNU suddenly cajoling with a party that the majority of Guyanese believe to be corrupt and incompetent is outright disgusting and embarrassing. At least the public could judge for themselves about their intentions.
Regards,
Sahadeo Bates
