(Kaieteur News) – Bel Air Lions Club paid an early morning visit to Dr. Johan DaSilva’s office, located at Modern Optical Service at Middle Street where he took time off from his busy schedule to sit for a brief interview.
Dr. DaSilva began his professional career in 2006. However, the Lions Club of Bel Air and Dr. Johan DaSilva established a relationship that has stretched for over a decade.
Dr. DaSilva shared his knowledge in the following areas:

He advocated that we need a balanced diet, limit our time on electronic devices and consume a lot of fruits and vegetables.
Generally, our eyesight begins to deteriorate in our 40’s. However, there are some children who are unfortunate to have bad eyesight. Such conditions can arise from the excessive use of electronic devices and strain on the eyes.
Older persons tend to develop an eye condition called presbyopia, which is the gradual loss of your eyes’ ability to focus on nearby objects. It’s a natural, often annoying part of aging. Presbyopia usually becomes noticeable in your early to mid-40s and continues to worsen until around age 65.
Because Guyana is located in the tropics, we experience very hot sunshine which can be detrimental to our eyesight, and one of the eye conditions that most Guyanese suffer from is cataract. Another condition is glaucoma.
