Urgently needed road at Annai to be clearly demarcated

Dear Editor,

There is a road junction when one enters the village of Annai in the North Rupununi where four roads converge; one main access road with three side roads. There are no road signs or markings to indicate who has the right of way and who has to stop. To compound matters, school children also have to use these roads daily and unfortunately, many do not know how to navigate these roads safely.

With increased traffic daily including heavy duty trucks, pickups, minibuses, and motorcycles, many of which speed with no regard for other road users, this road junction is a disaster waiting to happen.

As such I am calling on the Guyana Police Force, the Ministry of Education, and the Minister of Local Government to look into having this road junction clearly demarcated soonest with road signs and other relevant markings, and to ensure that a speed limit is implemented, to avoid serious accidents or loss of life at this road junction.
