(Kaieteur Sports) – It was being considered as the country’s biggest softball tournament last year, the “One Guyana Inter-Region Ten\10 Softball Cricket Cup”, with some 62 softball teams from across regions 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 taking part vying for the championship and bragging rights as Hype Park of Parika in region 3 got better of their opponents Regal of region 4 in the finals at the Bath Community Centre Ground in region 5, as they walk away with the inaugural title, the MVP, best bowler, best batsman and man of the final prizes.
The 2nd annual “One Guyana Inter-Region Ten\10 Softball Cricket Cup” is slated to take place from 2nd to 30th November 2025 at various venues across the regions, and defending champions Hype Park will look to defend their title in the open male category.
Softball players can mark their calendars as this year’s tournament is expected to be played in all of Guyana’s ten administrative regions and is set to be bigger and better with the inclusion of the open female category and with more attractive prizes up for grabs.
The tournament is being coordinated by RS Sports and has the support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports under the One Guyana Brand. The coordinators express their heartfelt thanks to the Hon. Charles Ramson for supporting this year’s tournament and for ensuring that softball cricket is being kept alive.
According to the coordinators, all regional winning teams will be awarded cash incentives and trophies, while prizes will be given to the runners-up, regional MVPs, Best bowlers, Best Batter, Player of the finals, and Player of the matches.
While in the national playoffs, the national winners will be given more lucrative cash incentives to walk away with. Prizes will also be awarded to the tournament’s MVPs, Best Bowlers, Best Batters, and Player of Finals.
The winner of each region will battle in the national playoffs at a venue to be named.
It’s the true belief of the organizers that the tournament once again will bring our people together across various villages/communities/regions in unity through sports and strengthen the game of softball cricket locally, and help to create that “One Guyana”.
The tournament will continue to use supreme balls, and it’s a one-game knockout competition that will use round-arm and risk bowling with extras in place.
Interested teams across the country can register by contacting Brian (Region 2) 651-0358, Frank (Region 3) 615-5343, Darmin (Region 4) 668-2783, Mahesh (Region 5&6) 668-9993, Female Ms. Akaze (Regions 3&4) 717-5577 and for other regions, send team name, region, and category to RS Sports WhatsApp 726-1386.
