Kaieteur News – The newly formed political party, Assembly for Liberty and Prosperity (ALP), has raised concerns over the living conditions of residents in East La Penitence, Georgetown.
Although the party did not secure a seat in the 13th Parliament following the September 1 General and Regional Elections, it has continued to engage with citizens on community issues and national matters. In a statement issued on Monday, the ALP highlighted that, residents of East La Penitence are grappling with several longstanding challenges, including frequent flooding, poor drainage systems, high unemployment among young people, inadequate recreational facilities, and limited access to clean and reliable water. The party stressed that these problems persist year after year, undermining family well-being and stalling community development.
Calling for urgent government action, the ALP urged the government to create job opportunities, upgrade infrastructure, expand recreational access, and ensure the consistent delivery of essential services. “These are longstanding problems that continue to undermine the well-being of families and hinder community development,” the statement read.
The party further reminded the government that all citizens deserve equal access to progress, regardless of their community. “The voices of East La Penitence are clear. Their concerns deserve swift action, not delay. ALP remains committed to working alongside citizens to bring about ‘A Good Change’,” the statement concluded.
