Kaieteur News – The Guyana Defence Force (GDF), on Saturday, congratulated Colonel General Staff, Colonel Kenlloyd Roberts, MSM, on successfully completing the Global Strategy Programme 2025 at the Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS), London, United Kingdom.
The Global Strategy Programme is one of the world’s most esteemed professional military education courses, gathering over one hundred senior military officers, government officials, and private sector leaders from forty-seven countries, including the United Kingdom.
The postgraduate Global Strategy Programme develops strategic understanding and the capacity for strategic thinking through rigorous analysis of the international security agenda; the levers that provide for security, stability and prosperity; and the key tenets of leadership at the national strategic level.
According to a statement posted by the GDF on its Facebook page, the aim is to produce senior leaders who understand the international strategic context, are skilled in analysis, and can work across national, cultural, and ideological boundaries. They can also lead or contribute to developing strategies at the highest levels.
“Throughout the programme, Colonel Roberts distinguished himself as a dedicated, thoughtful, and collaborative leader. He was commended for consistently demonstrating intellectual depth, his reflective leadership style, his ability to offer clear strategic insights, and his skill in fostering constructive dialogue across diverse cultural and professional perspectives. His contributions were especially valued in discussions on small-state strategic positioning and multilateral security cooperation, areas that are of particular importance to Guyana and the wider Caribbean region.”
GDF said, Colonel Roberts’s academic work and professional contributions were consistently praised for their analytical depth, critical reasoning, and practical application to contemporary strategic issues. He was also recognised for his performance in strategic exercises and syndicate work, where he demonstrated confidence, sound judgement, and the ability to lead with tact and vision.
“During his year at RCDS, Col Roberts also pursued his third Master’s, an MA in International Security and Strategy at King’s College London. His efforts demonstrate his personal dedication, intellectual ability, and professional excellence, while emphasising the GDF’s commitment to preparing its officers to meet the highest international standards,” GDF said.
Colonel Roberts’ enhanced expertise and expanded international network of strategic partners will bolster Guyana’s voice in regional and global security discussions, supporting the advancement of the country’s national interests, GDF added.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Brigadier Omar Khan, MSS, along with the officers and ranks of the GDF, extended heartfelt congratulations to Colonel General Staff, Colonel Kenlloyd Roberts, on this significant achievement and wishes him continued success as he continues to uphold the banner of professionalism, leadership, and service to Guyana.
