Mohamed contends 2025 polls neither free nor fair

Kaieteur News – Leader of the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party, Azruddin Mohamed on Wednesday raised condemnation over the 2025 elections, arguing that they were not free or fair.
In a recorded message on Facebook following the release by GECOM of results from the 10 electoral districts, the party leader said his team has received credible reports of grave irregularities in the conduct of the elections.
“My fellow Guyanese citizens, we have arrived at a critical point in the history of our nation. Within the past few days, we have had numerous and credible reports of grave irregularities in the conduct of these 2025 elections. Reports of statement of polls going missing, tampering with ballot boxes and wholesale victimisation have reached us from across the nation. We have also been made aware of the voting by Bangladeshis, Indians and Venezuelans even though they do not reside in Guyana for the prescribed amount of time,” he explained.
Mohamed noted that these are grave matters that undermine the pillars of the country’s democracy. He related that his party has seen suspicious activities in the polling places and has seen “political manipulation” of such a scale as to be overlooked.
“Let us be blunt, these elections were neither free or fair, numerically and politically, it is impossible for the PPP to have won in Region Four, where they have little or no serious support. The use of State power and taxpayers’ money in propping up their campaign is a betrayal of the Guyanese people,” he expressed.
According to him, while his party has requested a recount in votes, no matter the results, WIN’s aim and mission remain the same, and that is to “never abandon, neglect or disrespect you the Guyanese people.”
“With all the victimisation, political harassment, intimidation of myself and my candidates and also my supporters, we in the WIN party, a 90-day old movement, have shaken the pillars of Guyana’s political establishment. We have proven to this nation and the world that there is such a thing as change and that the Guyanese are willing to rise above fear and tyranny,” he said in his message.
The party leader stated that the numbers of votes his party received reflect a group of people who are tired, frustrated and pleading for betterment.
Addressing his movement, candidates, and supporters, Mohamed expressed, “I wish to thank you for your dedication, perseverance and steadfastness. You stood beside me and you fought for the WIN movement even when your hands were tied due to victimisation and for that I will be eternally grateful.”
He continued, “I am sorry we did not receive the expected results, but you the people know as much as I do, that it is never an easy fight when the playing field is titled by those who resort to manipulation and dishonesty.”
Mohamed further told his supporters not to lose hope and that they will not be silenced nor will they retreat.
He said the WIN party will continue to be their voice and will ensure that their voices be heard loud and clear.
“We will fight for the care, respect, justice and integrity which each Guyanese man, woman and child is entitled to. This is not the end; our movement is stronger than ever before. Together the WIN movement will ensure that our democracy is not hijacked, ballots are not bought, people are not manipulated and where every citizen has an equal chance for a better future, we will make sure of it,” he said on Wednesday.
