Kaieteur News – Sometimes people only realize how sweet de mango was after dem done throw way de seed. Dem boys seh, is like when yuh wife cooking lil saltfish every day and yuh belly start itch fuh change. Yuh go and pick up one fancy gyal who does only want lobster and champagne. Next thing yuh know, yuh bruk and hungry, and suddenly yuh miss de same saltfish you was cussing.
Dem two media gyal thought de grass was greener pon de other side. But dem forget—sometimes de grass only green because it full of cow dung. Dem seh dem was going fuh “better opportunities.” Next thing, de new boss man polish dem up like trophy, use dem fuh show off, then fling dem down like yesterday newspaper.
People like to believe promise. Boss man seh, “Come, we gon treat yuh good, pay yuh better, respect yuh more.” Next ting, reality bite dem like sandfly. Pay slow, respect vanish, and “more” mean more wuk, less sleep, and no appreciation.
Now dem realize dem wasn’t dispensable where dem deh. Dem was diamond in de rough, but only after dem gone, dem see how valuable dem really was. Dem left fuh betterment and end up worse off—same way like man who sell he donkey fuh buy a horse, then can’t afford de horse feed.
Is a bitter lesson but sweet example. Sometimes de frying pan might hot, but at least yuh coulda still flip yuh plantain. Yuh jump in de fire, is roast yuh gon get.
So dem boys seh, don’t run after shiny promise. Shine does wear off fast. Grass does only look green till yuh step pon it and realize is moss. At de end of de day, all that glitter ain’t gold—sometimes is just cheap brass with lil polish.
Dem two find out too late. De rest of we better tek note.
Talk half. Leff half
