Commonwealth, OAS observers meet Chancellor, hierarchy of police force
Representatives of the Commonwealth Electoral Mission met with the hierarchy of the Guyana Police Force.
Kaieteur News – Representatives of the Commonwealth Electoral Mission and the Organisation of American States’ (OAS) Electoral Observation Mission (EOM) met with the hierarchy of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Tuesday.
The Commonwealth’s Electoral Mission is headed by former Foreign Affairs Minister of Tonga Mrs. Fekitamoeloa Katoa Utoikananu.
Representatives of the OAS met with the hierarchy of the Guyana Police Force on Tuesday.
The OAS’s EOM met with Justice Roxane George, who is performing the functions of Chancellor of the Judiciary on Tuesday.
According to the GPF, Mrs. Utoikanau met with Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken, members of his executive leadership team and other senior officers in the Commissioner’s Conference Room at Police Force’s headquarters at Eve Leary, Georgetown.
Similarly, the OAS, led by former Prime Minister of Jamaica Honourable Bruce Golding met with Hicken and team ahead of Monday’s general and regional elections. The OAS/EOM will comprise 27 experts and observers from 18 countries.
Meanwhile, the OAS in a separate statement said that its EOM met with Justice Roxane George, who is performing the functions of Chancellor of the Judiciary ahead of next week’s elections.
