Accused Elijah Nieunkirk

Kaieteur News – A 19-year-old was released on Wednesday on $75,000 bail for simple larceny.

Elijah Nieunkirk, of Lot 13 Railway Line, Kitty, Georgetown, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before senior magistrate, Fabayo Azore to answer the charge.

Nieunkirk pleaded not guilty to the offence which alleged that on August 7, 2025, at Lamaha Street, Kitty, Georgetown, he stole one grey Honjue motorcycle value $211,000 property of Shanya Griffith.

The teen was represented by Attorney, Stacy Goodings who requested bail and informed the court that her client denies the allegation.

The prosecution objected to bail due to the serious nature and prevalence of the offence. They also noted that Nieunkirk admitted to the offence during a video/audio interview; highlighting that with the evidence, and if granted bail, the defendant may not return to court.

Magistrate Azore granted the young man bail and the matter was adjourned to September 24, 2025.
