Kaieteur News – The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) on Wednesday announced the launch of a new online search tool aimed at helping voters easily identify their assigned polling stations ahead of the upcoming elections.
According to a statement from the Commission, the feature is now accessible on GECOM’s official website and is part of efforts to streamline the voting process and enhance convenience for all eligible electors. The initiative seeks to eliminate the usual confusion experienced on Election Day, where voters often show up at the wrong polling stations or struggle to locate their names on physical lists.
“Voters can now use their phones or computers, provided they have an internet connection, to quickly find where they are listed to vote,” the Commission stated.
The tool provides two options for searching: voters can either enter their National Identification Number and click on “Search by ID,” or input their full name and date of birth under the “Search by Particulars” option.
GECOM is encouraging all eligible electors to use the service ahead of time to avoid last-minute uncertainty. “GECOM urges all eligible voters to take full advantage of this valuable search tool to ensure a smooth and efficient voting experience,” the release added. “This crucial information will greatly assist electors to ensure that they go to the correct polling station and smoothly cast their ballot on Election Day.”
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and credibility, the Commission noted that the online platform is one of several efforts being made to ensure voters are well-informed, confident, and able to participate meaningfully in the democratic process.
