Kaieteur News- The Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday officially commissioned the $225 million state-of-the-art Regional Police Division Headquarters for Region Seven, which is located at Bartica.
Attending the simple yet significant ceremony was Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn; Permanent Secretary, Andre Ally; Deputy Commissioner ‘Operations,’ Errol Watts; Commander of Regional Division #7, Dion Moore; and other senior and junior officers.

According to information provided by the ministry, the $225,824,943 facility represents a pivotal milestone in enhancing the operational capacity of the Guyana Police Force in Region Seven.
It was reported that the headquarters consist of a comprehensive suite of specialized offices and functional areas designed to support efficient policing, improve public service delivery, and elevate safety and security for residents.
“The building includes the Traffic Office, Special Constabulary Office, Certifying Officer’s Office, Community Policing Group Office, Human Resources Office, Data Room, Lunch Room, Waiting Area, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Offices, Special Branch Offices, Operational Room, Conference Room, Finance Office, Commander’s Office and Registry, Deputy Commander’s Office, as well as the Court Superintendent’s Office and Registry,” the ministry detailed.

Additionally, the ministry noted that each space is purpose-built to empower the police force with the tools necessary to enhance operational coordination, increase investigative effectiveness, and strengthen administrative excellence.
“This facility embodies a forward-looking investment in modern policing aimed at delivering safer communities, responsive law enforcement, and a justice system strengthened across Region 7. Beyond operational improvements, the headquarters will serve as the strategic hub for law enforcement activities in Region 7, a critical area for Guyana’s economic development, particularly in mining and commerce. By improving working conditions for officers and modernizing policing infrastructure, the Government ensures that security services in the hinterland remain professional, responsive, and community-centered,” the ministry shared.
The ministry reminded that the facility is part of the government’s commitment to enhancing the professionalism, responsiveness, and community orientation of the Guyana Police Force, ensuring that all citizens enjoy safety, justice, and security regardless of geographic location.
