Kaieteur Sports – The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) is making use of all opportunities to improve its cricketing input in the County. Be it in terms of administration or skills for players and administrators.
One such activity was held over the weekend when the BCB held an up-skilled coaching programme for which was also held as a refresher course for coaches under its purview.
The session was held at the BCB Office on August 2 – 3, 2025. Head coach of the BCB, Winston Smith, was the tutor for the participants involved in both classroom and practical sessions. The classroom sessions were held in the BCB office, while the practical sessions were held on the tarmac adjoining the BCB Office. The participants went through all aspects of cricket. According to Smith, he is satisfied with how things were conducted.
Some seven coaches successfully participated in the two-day activity. The coaches are expected to return to their respective clubs and areas and impart whatever new skills they have acquired.
Several other coaching Programmes are on the cards for the rest of the year. One sponsored by the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), while another is to be sponsored by Minister Vickram Bharrat, who is also a patron of the BCB. These will be held shortly. (Samuel Whyte)
