The eight Guyanese who completed Phase One of MODEC Guyana’s onshore training programme with representatives of MODEC.
Kaieteur News – Eight Guyanese have successfully completed Phase One of MODEC Guyana’s 20-month Onshore Trainee Programme which began in February 2025. The initial five-month phase ended with a Recognition Ceremony held on July 8, 2025, at MODEC’s Corporate Office in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
According to a statement issued by MODEC, the trainees shared insights from their experiences across both, onshore and offshore assignments, technical workshops, soft skills sessions, and presented a comprehensive SWOT analysis of their time in Brazil at a simple closing ceremony.
“This first phase of the program provided the trainees with continuous learning, integration, and professional development opportunities. The trainees also benefited from valuable exchanges, including offshore activities during their embarks on local units in Brazil. Having completed this important milestone, the group is now prepared for the next stage of the program: an international experience in Singapore, scheduled to begin on July 28,” the statement said.
Rafael Fumis, Country Manager of MODEC Guyana, noted that the first phase in Brazil provided valuable experience and insight into the offshore operations of FPSOs, forming a solid foundation for the trainees’ effective contribution to the business.
“In this next phase, we will focus on preparing for operations. The trainees will have the opportunity to become familiar with FPSO Errea Wittu, its systems, and its specific characteristics, positioning them to provide strong support to the offshore team from first oil. We are very pleased with the progress of the program,” he said.
Livia Alves, Development and Performance Coordinator at MODEC Guyana, highlighted the significance of this milestone: “Seeing the results unfold, observing the growth and development of our trainees, and knowing that we contributed to the development of future leaders is a truly rewarding experience.”
