Kaieteur News – The Government of Guyana is set to invest $1 billion to upgrade Cane View Avenue located in South Georgetown.
According to the Ministry of Public Works, Ministers Deodat Indar and Kwame McCoy visited the community where they informed residents of the government’s intention to execute major road upgrades on Friday.
The ministry reported that the $1 billion road project includes the sectional reconstruction of the damaged roadway with reinforced concrete, widening of the existing pavement for better traffic flow, construction of reinforced concrete box culverts and drains in some sections, installation of road safety features, and the relocation of utilities.
“The project has a 7-month duration and will be executed in two lots on each side of Heroes Highway by contractors Singh and Son Construction, and GuyBiz Establishment. Works will commence on Saturday, July 12,” the ministry stated.
Additionally, the ministry noted that the nearly 3km road project will bring much relief to residents as it is set to significantly improve the roadway since some sections are nearly impassable due to heavy-duty traffic.
