Kaieteur Sports – A stunning batting display from middle-order batsman and Berbician Keyon Sinclair inspired Masters to a resounding, 8-wicket victory over Sunshine in the final of the 2025 Ontario Round-Arm Softball Cricket Association (ORSCA)/Trophy Stall 15-over final on Saturday.
The right-handed Sinclair blitzed with an unbeaten 65 as Masters galloped to 177-2 off 12-overs replying to Sunshine’s decent 175-8 from their allotted 15-overs.
Playing on a sun-drenched day at Emancipation Park in Brampton, Ontario, just about half-hour drive West bound from the famous City of Toronto, Sinclair clobbered 10 effortless sixes during his 22-ball show.
He also shared an electrifying, 90-run third-wicket unbroken stand with fellow right-hander Rajkumar Budhram, who blasted 45 which contained six towering sixes from 19 deliveries.
The pair joined forces after Masters lost former Guyana youth player Ricardo Peters and Kumar Dudnuth, the two openers at 87-2 in 6.4 overs.
Before their exhibition, Peters and Dudnuth laid a solid foundation for the chase having collaborated in a fantastic, 52-run partnership from just 17 balls with Peters lashing a fiery, 14-ball 42 that comprised of six sixes and a boundary.
Dudnuth contributed 18 before he followed Peters shortly.
Earlier, Masters won the toss and opted to bowl.
They justified the decision having taken wickets quite frequently with Sinclair proving his all-round capability by grabbing two wickets for 30 from his maximum three overs to complement a breathtaking, all-round performance.
Amit Rukhram struck a blazing 38 for Sunshine while experienced campaigner Jeteendra Beharry also with 38.
Sunshine had a considerably fine start with Avinash Sookdeo and Canada-based Guyanese Avish Rukhram steadying things with 33 runs before Rukhram succumbed via a catch for 17.
Sookdeo continued his aggression belting three sixes and a four for his 27.
At one stage, Sunshine struggled to 95-4. Amit Rukhram was typically belligerent to bring good momentum but Sinclair and skipper Mark Nazir were tidy at the backend of the innings. Nazir picked up 3-26 (3) including a hat-trick.
Amit Rukhram’s innings was characterized with 5 sixes and one four while Beharry struck five sixes and a four as well.
Sinclair was named player-of-the-match for his sterling all-round effort. Beharry, who also claimed one wicket, was chosen as the MVP for Sunshine. Both awardees received a trophy each while the runners-up side collected one. Masters also took home a trophy while each player was given a small trophy. All members of Sunshine got medals.
All trophies were donated by Trophy Stall of Bourda Market in Georgetown, Guyana and with a location in Markham, Ontario, Canada.
Managing Director Ramesh Sunich expressed delight to be associated with ORSCA and promised his continued support.
Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Trevor Chakalall, congratulated the victorious team and wished Sunshine better luck next time.
Chakalall, who is the Secretary of the ORSCA, performed the duties as MC after President Mitch Bacchus was absent due to personal commitment.
Chakalall also expressed his profound gratitude to Trophy Stall for sponsoring the 15-over, 16-team competition which began three weeks ago.
He thanked his fellow executives to come out and witnessed some exciting cricket and assisted with the organizational aspect of things.
He also thanked prominent cricket Journalist and Commentator Ravendra Madholall for doing live Facebook broadcast.
