Dis is wha de PPPC government good at – year-end surprise, like Santa Claus in red and black. Every year, dem does delay de raise, then come December, dem buss a big retroactive and public servants smiling all de way to Courts fuh buy flat screen and blender. Everybody happy. Is de one time people does feel like dem get bonus – even though is dem own money dem getting back.
But dis year different. Is election season. De government want fuh look good early. So dem seh, “Tek de 8% now, nah wait fuh Christmas.” But dem boys seh if you tek it now, wha you gon get in December? Dry rice and pepper sauce?
Public servants got to choose: get a lil boost now and spend it out by September, or wait and collect de big sweet backpay just in time fuh Christmas barrel. Some people done plan fuh buy washing machine with dat backpay. Others plan fuh pay off de lil box hand owe since last year. Now all dem plans up in smoke.
