Kaieteur News – Dem boys seh de police now turn magician. Dem disappearing behind every lil’ bend and bush corner wid speed gun in hand, like dem playing hide and seek wid motorists. But is not no pickney game dem playing—dem issuing speeding tickets like mango in season.

De other day, dem boys pass one junction near a sharp turn and see one police peeping out like he spying pon he neighbour wife. Speed gun cock and ready. But hear nah, de man measuring speed from an angle so sharp, he might as well be reading de weather forecast!

Dem boys seh dat speed gun don’t read mind and it don’t read speed proper when you pointing it from de side like you want arrest de car for drifting. Any school pickney could tell dem dat if you pointing a gun at something that not coming straight at you, you gon get a reading dat more wrong than de GPL bill. And dat’s de problem.

De police know de reading ain’t accurate, but dem still writing ticket like is Christmas bonus time. One driver seh he tek de corner slow-slow like he carrying glass full a water, and still get book fuh speeding. Wah kinda science is dat?

Dem boys seh police should stop trying fuh ketch people like trapperman waiting fuh rat. If you serious bout road safety, then stand up bold and visible. Let people see you and slow down because dem respect de law—not because dem ‘fraid a sudden ambush like is war zone.

And one more ting—if you hiding behind a corner, how you sure which car really speeding? All dem cars look like dem rushing when you watching from de bush. So leh we be real. Use de speed gun proper. Use common sense. And stop hiding like jumbie waiting behind turn. Is traffic enforcement, not hide-and-seek. Dem boys seh, if de gun can’t see straight, don’t expect it to read straight.

I believe all those Police hiding in de bush with speed gun- suffering or
