– Narcotics, Cash FoundKaieteur News – On Wednesday, between 15:00 and 16:00 hrs, based on intelligence received, Superintendent Dufu, along with other ranks, proceeded to Lot 18 Victoria Road, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, to conduct a search for ammunition, firearms and narcotics.
In a press release, police said that upon arrival at the location, a male dressed in green trunks was observed fleeing from the premises.
Despite a chase being immediately given, the suspect escaped. A search of the premises was conducted and a quantity of ‘fronto’ was discovered in a yellow plastic bag along with a number of transparent ziplock bags.
A sum of cash in various denominations was also found, including Guyana currency notes in five thousand, two thousand, one thousand, five hundred, one hundred, and twenty-dollar denominations, along with two fifty-dollar notes and one twenty-dollar note in United States currency.
The total value of the cash amounted to one hundred and thirteen thousand, five hundred Guyana dollars (GC$113,500).
A further search was conducted and a black plastic bag containing a bulky parcel with a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis was found.
All the items were collected and taken to the Sparendaam Police Station. The suspected cannabis was weighed and found to be 304 grams. All items were lodged.
