Kaieteur Sports- Akil Haynes and Priyanna Ramdhani defended their Mixed Doubles title while bagging top spots in Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles as action in the Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) GUMDAC Easter Badminton tournament.
Competition spiked off this past weekend with a number of huge performances by some of Guyana’s premier Badminton players, both junior and senior.
The tournament featured a Round of 32 (Men’s Doubles), Round of 16 (Mixed), and Round Robin (Women’s), which in the end saw some tough battles for the respective first place positions.
The thrilling Men’s Doubles final saw Haynes and Tyresey Jeffrey edging past the talented duo of Nkosi Beaton and Wen Yuan Chen to seal the first place spot.
In the Mixed Doubles clash, featuring the talented Beaton and female star Mishka Beharry, tried before falling to Ramdhani and Haynes, thus settling for the second spot.
Ramdhani and Beharry then teamed up to dominate the Women’s Doubles as they ended in first place, leaving Shivannie Persaud and Anna Perreira to settle for the second spot.
Meanwhile, the GBA hailed the tournament as a fantastic showcase of talent and passion for badminton in Guyana, further thanking the players, parents and GUMDAC for their support in making the tournament a huge success.

2nd – Nkosi Beaton & Mishka Beharry
3rd – Wen Yuan Chen & Asiyah Eastman
3rd – Gavin Cao & Zhou Fenglian
