Kaieteur News- Uncle Bobby hollering how people disrespecting de 1763 Monument. He seh people fighting in front Cuffy like is a boxing ring, not a place fuh honour we heroes. But dem boys seh is not de fight alone dat disrespecting Cuffy.
Dem boys seh dat square bin being disrespected a long time. Cuffy must be begging fuh blink just so he don’t see de nonsense. If Cuffy turn to he right, he gan see people selling things. He turn to de left, he gan see tent and people selling things. He look straight and is a car park right in front of where he is. And he frighten to look behind him because is one big pavilion that need fixing.
Yuh know is bad when pigeons got more manners than people. Dem does fly in, pay dem respect and fly out. But dem humans setting up tent, caravans and vending stands. Is only a matter of time before somebody decide fuh carry boom box deh.
But dem boys got a solution—build a roundabout. Yes, a big fat wide one, just like de one pun Heroes Highway but wider. Cuffy deserve better, and if Guyanese can’t behave in front of he, then put he where dem can’t reach.
A roundabout, with Cuffy in de middle, gon fix everything. Nobody gon park in front he. Nobody gon sell chicken foot under he. Nobody gon fight there. De area done busy and a roundabout is needed for help the traffic flow easier
Dem boys seh is either that, or put Cuffy pun a drone and let he hover over Guyana, watching who really keeping the fight alive. But till then, gimme a nice roundabout. One with lights, flowers and lawns—because even Cuffy need some personal space.
Is high time we stop treating heroes like hitchhikers and give dem the dignity dem earn. Roundabout fuh Cuffy! Before he step down and start walking back to Berbice.
