Kaieteur News- Two women who were involved in a brawl on Sunday were both released on $15,000 bail each.
The defendants, 27-year-old Shanella Holder of Lot 37 East Ruimveldt, Front Road, Georgetown and Malika Lewis, also known as ‘Farren Dolly’, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore, who read the charge.
Holder and Lewis both pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on May 25, 2025, at the Square of the Revolution, Georgetown, they engaged in a public fight with each other.
The prosecution had no objection to bail, but stated that if the defendants were willing to resolve the issue and stay away from each other, the charges could be dismissed.
Holder was represented by attorney Shauntelle Wright, while Lewis was represented by attorney Jevon Cox.
Both attorneys stated that their clients are not a flight risk. They both requested that their clients be released on self-bail.
Magistrate Azore granted Holder and Lewis bail. She said that while they are no longer interested in pursuing the matter, it must be reviewed by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) before it is dismissed.
The matter was adjourned to June 2, 2025.
