Kaieteur News- The 26-year-old boat captain who was arrested on Tuesday for assault causing actual bodily harm, was charged and released on $40,000 bail on Wednesday for unlawful wounding.
Orin Rankin, of Lot 4 Enterprise, Leguan, appeared at the Wakenaam Magistrates’ Court, before Magistrate Dylon Bess.
Rankin pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on Monday evening, he unlawfully wounded his common-law wife. He was granted bail and the matter was transferred to the Leguan Magistrates’ Court for May 29, 2025.
Kaieteur News had reported that the accused allegedly hit his common-law-wife. The victim’s mother subsequently made a Facebook post requesting help for her daughter.
“I’m pleading with anyone who would be kind enough to point me in the right direction to get help for my daughter, a phone number, or anything I would really appreciate it. Please, heaven forbid! this could be your child, good or bad we don’t give up on our children, and I’m asking please help me save my daughter before it’s too late. She has kids. God knows if I were there no one would even dare to put their hands on my child,” the victim’s mother posted on Facebook.
