Kaieteur News- Is only de other day me deh pon meh way to buy two ochro and a lil pumpkin when a man walk up to me like he vex wid he own self.
He seh, “How de Vice President could seh deh gat some people in Guyana who stupid?!”
So me seh, “Yuh ever hear bout Socrates?” He seh no, but he know Soca and Rice.
So me decide fuh go Socratic pon he.
Me ask, “Wha is de opposite of stupid?”
He seh, “Smart.”
Me ask he, ‘Everybody in Guyana smart?
He seh, “No.”
Me seh, “So if not everybody smart, wha de mwah nah smart is?”
He seh, “Well… maybe not-so-smart.”
Me seh, “Is a fancy way fuh seh stupid, right?”
He seh, “Maybe…”
Me ask, “Yuh ever see people park right under a no-parking sign and then cuss when dem car get clamp?”
He seh, “Plenty.”
Me seh, “Dem is smart?”
He seh, “Well…”
Me seh, “Yuh ever hear people seh dem want better government, but still vote fuh de same people who rob dem?”
He seh, “Every five year.”
So me ask, “If people does do dem tings, is it fair fuh seh some people stupid?”
He seh, “When yuh put it like that…”
Me seh, “Well, is how de Vice President put it too. He just skip de philosophy part.”
Look, not everybody gan be Einstein. Some people believe Facebook is a source of gospel. Some still believe de oil money hiding in a coconut tree waiting fuh fall in dem lap.
We got smart people in Guyana, yes. But leh we nah fool weself. We got stupid ones too. Just check some of de comments pon social media.
So when de Vice President seh some people stupid, maybe is not de most diplomatic thing, but is not like he lie.
Dem boys seh… if de cap fit and is a dunce cap, wear it pon yuh own time!
