Dear Editor,
For the last ten days, Guyana has been gripped by the tragic death of a young child. In scenes never seen before, Guyana came together as one people to grieve and mourn for her.
Unfortunately, there is a cadre of rabble-rousers who never seem to let a tragedy go to waste. They always seek to exploit it for personal and political gain. I respectfully submit that this time, they went too far. Homes, businesses and public structures were set ablaze. Innocent people were attacked and harmed. These illegal acts should not go unpunished, and the Police must now act and arrest the lawbreakers. Failure to do so will only embolden similar acts in the future.
We respectfully call on the Police and law enforcement to peruse the many videos available and bring all lawbreakers to justice. Additionally, as a dual citizen, the well-being of my country means too much to me not to act as well. Therefore, I downloaded many incitement, incendiary material and video recordings of the lawlessness and forwarded them to the FBI with a historical background for them to analyse and act upon.
The innocent people of Guyana also deserve justice for the destruction, mayhem and demolitions they had to endure over the past several days.
Respectfully submitted,
Herbert Allen
