Over 100 students receive grief support at Adriana Younge’s school
Kaieteur News- Former head of the Child Care Protection Agency (CCPA), Ann Greene, said more than 100 pupils of the Parika Salem Primary School received grief support on Monday, in response to the untimely death of former student, Adriana Younge.
The counselling session was initiated by the Ministry of Education and provided support to 132 students. Green said the sessions will continue. She added that the sessions covered pupils from Grade One to Six. However, not many children attended school on Monday.
“It went well, they did well, and they did the session well. But some of the children you know, they young, so they wouldn’t take in much of grief counselling … but what really they needed yesterday, and they need to know that, you know, we care.”
The education ministry said the goal of the initiative was to offer both students and staff a safe and supportive environment where they could process their emotions, access professional counselling, and begin the healing process.
