Dear Editor,
Mark Carney’s recent visit to Prince Edward Island (PEI) and New Brunswick showcases bold leadership from a seasoned politician. Just six months ago, any mention of “Trudeau” in this Conservative stronghold would have been met with hostility. Yet, Carney engaged directly with the people and is delivering on his promises. He has established a clear plan to modernize Canada’s public healthcare system, initiating the allocation of CAD 4 billion to enhance community healthcare in the Atlantic Provinces. While still serving as Prime Minister, he is formulating a strategy to address the shortage of healthcare professionals by adding thousands of new doctors. As we approach the summer of 2025, I challenge Mr. Bharrat Jagdeo to visit Region 10 and present a message that can uplift the Region 10 residents’ healthcare, following Carney’s example. The world is watching Canada’s new Prime Minister—an exemplar of courage and conviction. Guyana’s politicians should adopt strategies from Carney’s campaign and display these lessons prominently in their offices.
Regards,
Mohamed Shabeer Zafar
