Kaieteur News- Guyanese is a special setta people. Is not that we don’t know wha we want. Is that we want every single thing, fuh everybody, all the time—even if we ain’t sure we really want it.
Dem boys seh yuh could part de Red Sea fuh dem and somebody gon still complain that de water too salty.
Fuh years now, government been helpin out wid CXC fees. Dem subsidize, dem slash, dem chop it down. Still, yuh had parents bawlin, “Ow man! Dis ting still too expensive!” One lady seh she had to choose between paying for exam fees and buyin food.
Now hear dis. Government seh dem gon foot de bill fuh EIGHT subject. Eight! Fuh free! But instead of people seh, “Well done, meh govament, y’all really helpin out de poor man,” wha yuh hear?
“Why only eight? Meh child doing eleven!”
“Wha happen to de other three?”
“Y’all pick a random number or wha?”
Another seh de pickney only writing two subject but she still want government pay fuh ten—just in case.
Dem boys seh some people want de government pay fuh de exam, buy de school clothes, pack de lunch kit, walk de child to school, sit down in de exam room, and write de test fuh dem too!
Is two kinda Guyanese. De first set gon grumble no matter wha. Dem does vex when it rain, and vex when it too sunny. De second set nah gan find any fault with de government.”
Dem boys seh if Jagdeo come pon TV and announce free house lot, free minibus, and free goat, yuh gon still hear, “But why goat? Meh wanted a sheep.”
Yuh see how it guh?
Guyanese is de only people who complain about traffic jam, and then complain when de road too clear—“Wha happen? Is bandit in de area or wha?”
Dem boys seh, if yuh want to learn patience, don’t go monastery. Try pleasing a Guyanese.
