2025 CWI Regional 4-Day Championships Round 6…
– Eagles lead by 239 runs heading into last day
Kaieteur Sports- In-form batsmen, Kevlon Anderson and Captain Tevin Imlach played similar tunes as they slammed contrasting hundreds, to help the Guyana Harpy Eagles pile on a crucial 239-run lead against the Hurricanes with an important final day left at Warner Park.
After Matthew Nandu (66) and Anderson resumed with the score 132-1 and went on to add 91 runs with Nandu reaching his half-century after doing the ground work on day 2.
Guyana steered themselves to a commanding position of 381-4 by the end of play, with Imlach on 103 not out from 215 deliveries and all-rounder Kevin Sinclair (31*) looking composed as they look towards a 300 plus run lead before declaring.
Following the opener’s dismissal at the hands of Rakeem Cornwall (1-94), Anderson found a stable teammate in his captain Imlach.
The two leading run-scorers for Guyana then shared a vital partnership of 114 as Guyana’s lead continued to swell.
Anderson played another masterful innings, picking off one of the better bowling attacks in the competition on his way to century number three this season, a well-constructed 101 from 246 balls, smacking 10 fours.
After leg-spinner Hayden Walsh Jr (1-84) broke the partnership by removing the centurion, Imlach picked up from where his teammates left off as he continued to pile on the runs with some classy shots which saw him reach another fifty since returning to lead Guyana in this year’s tournament.
The Champs motored to 326-3 by tea with Imlach looked comfortable as he resumed in the 80’s despite losing Kemol Savory (22) shortly after play resumed for the final session.
Imlach kept a cool head as he grafted his innings carefully, digging in for his hundred which featured just a six and two fours from well over 200 balls faced.
Alongside Sinclair, who will be keen on breaking the shackles to score something significant come today, Imlach will pilot his team as they seek another win when final day action resumes from 10:00h. (Clifton Ross)
