Kaieteur News- A 25-year-old man tragically lost his life on Tuesday night after the motorcycle, which he was riding collided with a car.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Amelia’s Ward Public Road and Toucan Drive, Linden, while the motorcyclist was doing stunts. Dead is Joshua Ross, who resided in Industrial Area, Linden. The accident reportedly occurred at 20:00h. The incident involved motorcar #PXX 4611 owned and driven by Juliet Alexander, a 69-year-old pensioner, and motorcycle #CN 6284 owned and driven by Ross.
Investigations revealed that the car was traveling north on the western lane of Toucan Drive, while the motorcyclist was heading east on the northern lane of Amelia’s Ward Public Road at a high speed, riding in a zig-zag motion. Police also said that the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet, and the motorcycle had no working lights.
“As the car and motorcycle approached the intersection, the car stopped and then attempted to cross the public road when the motorcycle collided with the front left side of the car,” police said in the statement. As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist was flung several feet from the point of impact and landed on the northern parapet where he received injuries on his body.
The motorcyclist was picked up in an unconscious condition by public-spirited citizens and transported to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was examined by a doctor, who pronounced him dead on arrival. The body of the deceased was later transported to the Linden Senior Citizens Association Funeral Home’s Mortuary for storage and awaiting post-mortem examination. The car and motorcycle were lodged to be examined by a licensing and certifying officer. Alexander was placed in custody assisting with the investigations.
Meanwhile, a friend of Ross described him to be a, “funny and energetic person to be around.” He was also described to be the, “life of a class.”
