Kaieteur News- Police on Monday identified a suspect through closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, who had attempted to flee the scene after crashing into a Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) utility pole at Atlantic Ville, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
According to a press release by the power company, the services of some 5,000 customers were disrupted along the east coast.
“The driver fled the scene with the vehicle. Thankfully, with the help of the Guyana Police Force we were able to review CCTV footage of the area, which led to the apprehension of the driver today (Monday)” GPL said in the statement.
The driver is expected to be charged with the offense and would pay for the damages caused. The electricity cooperation continues to implore drivers to exercise caution on the roadways to prevent incidents of such nature.
