Kaieteur News-A 23-year-old Venezuelan national was arrested, on Friday, after he was caught with three grams of cocaine, during a Police roadblock along the One Mile and Bartica-Potaro Road.
The man has been identified as Ulise Mijanes. Police reported that around 01:30h, ranks stopped a motor car bearing registration #PWW 1175, which was proceeding along the road.
Upon interception, ranks observed Leonid Tobin, a 47-year-old Teacher and Mijanes, who was the passenger in the vehicle. The officers noted that Mijanes was acting suspiciously.
As a result, a search was conducted on both occupants and the vehicle, during which nothing illegal was found on the driver or the vehicle. However, whilst searching Mijanes, Police discovered several pieces of whitish rock-like substances suspected to be cocaine in his left side pants waist.
“Ulise was told of the offence committed, and he remained silent,” Police said.
The Venezuelan man was then taken to the Bartica Police Station where the items were weighed in his presence. The white substance amounted to 3 grams. It is expected that charges will be instituted against Mijanes.
