Dear Editor,
The training initiative, in the plumbing and electrical fields, being offered to residents of Festival City and surrounding communities must be commended.
One comment questioned whether these persons will be employed. These persons would acquire a life skill and would therefore always be employed. However, of greater importance is whether these persons would be compliant and certified with national regulations and requirements in plying their trade or assisted in so becoming?
Training is good but the process doesn’t end there. Trainees must be impressed upon the importance of being compliant and adherent to rules and regulations in the field. Needless, this includes health and safety matters. No training is complete without this essential component.
Regards,
Shamshun Mohamed
