Kaieteur News – A 39-year-old man died on Tuesday afternoon after he lost control of his All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV), he was riding at the Ifill Access Road/Trail at Eyelash Backdam, North West District, Region One.
Dead is Devon Moralis, who was a resident of Wauna, Region One.
Police reported that the accident occurred at about 15:30hrs. Investigations disclosed that Moralis was riding alone on a route to Providence Backdam, when he lost control of the ATV, while negotiating a left bend on the trail at a fast rate. As a result, the ATV ended up on the southern side of the road whilst Moralis was reportedly flung to the northern side and remained motionless. Thereafter, public-spirited persons alerted the police, and ranks responded immediately. The ranks were accompanied by a doctor, who examined the body and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The body is at the Port Kaituma Public Hospital’s Mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination (PME).
