Guyana’s achievements through the efforts of its president is laudable

Kaieteur News – Recently our very own President Dr Mohammed Irfaan Ali was the recipient at of an international award, The Global African Leadership Award. It is a prestigious award granted to the president for his contribution to building a future for all Guyanese especially those of African Descent. His leadership qualities align perfectly with the ideals of the award, the organization noted.

These accolades were again sounded in the opening remarks of the chairman of the proceedings, it read “President Ali since taking up leadership in August 2020 has been nothing short of transformational, steering this nation into becoming the fastest growing economy globally. His dedication to principles, equity and probity resonates with all Guyanese.” And here’s the high point, “His vision for a unified Guyana transcending racial and cultural divides is laudable.” These are all great words showered on our president for which we are proud.

However, there was a sour note coming from The Opposition Leader here in Guyana, who subversively tried to block the award being given to Dr Ali. His reasons etched in the myopic racial view that President Ali has done nothing for the Black Race here in Guyana. But raising that racial call has placed The Opposition in a very bad light in that Norton must be cognizant of the fact, that all The African Leaders and the entire world for that matter, have been following the political affairs in a country called Guyana and can very well school Norton on this fact.

It was The Opposition Leader’s mistaken belief that those African Leaders might have agreed with him, but that was no to be, seeing Norton’s delusions have got the best of him and this caused him to put his foot in his mouth. Norton must face the facts that, when it comes to partisan rule and racism politics in Guyana his party is notoriously talked about. When statements such as “I am looking to employ people who look like myself,” words from a political bigwig Volda Lawrence, these words speak volumes of his party. Nor can he run away and hide from the atrocities of that party when it comes to election rigging, and the associated violence at election time; the facts are there to prove it.

In closing, President Ali has rightly said this award is for The People of Guyana again making the hallmark statement of “One Guyana.”
